Small Space Living Embraces Urban Agriculture

I love the idea of bringing the outside inside. For so many of us living in spaces where we have no access to an outdoor area can feel so limiting at times. Wouldn't it be nice if you could grow your own ingredients for a salad or herbs to season your food with all year round? In your own home at that?

Brita Riley decided to grow her first Windowfarm  in a low-light Brooklyn window. Through the use of hydroponics, she was able to design a vertical plant system to grow veggies, herbs and greens. The system is efficient and automated. The best thing is its simplicity in design. A reservoir holds water and plant nutrients at the bottom of the Windowfarm . The liquid is then cycled through out each plant for up to two weeks.
There is also a huge community of window farmers. Windowfarm  has all  kinds of group discusions going on. Topics like how-tos, advice and there are ongoing meetings. This is most definitely a food revolution. I can't wait to join and start growing my window farm.

Be sure to visit Windowfarm. There site is filled with so much information and you can purchase a build it kit. They range from $30 - $175.
